Gas Dryers:

The dryer gas valve has to be checked out by dryer repair technician. On gas dryers there is usually a panel or front door which comes off to give access to the gas valve assembly. You will find a dryer shut off valve right at the end of the internal gas line. Shut off the gas by turning the shut off valve one half turn.
Disconnect the brass coupling nut at the beginning of the dryer valve assembly. Pull the electrical connections and remove the screws which hold the valve assembly in place. Each dryer model is designed so that the gas valve assembly is positioned differently.
Once you have disconnected the dryer gas valve assembly take it to a parts and service company and have it checked out on the work bench. The service technician will know exactly what is wrong with the assembly and what needs to be done to correct it. Usually replacement parts are available right on the spot
While working around the igniter, keep in mind that it is very delicate and will break with minimum pressure. Treat it gently. Some of the newer gas dryers do not have an access plate in front. This means that you will have to remove the entire front dryer panel to get at the valve assembly. You can do it, but be sure you get a dryer service manual.
Also no smoking and always disconnect the electric plug before you start working with gas. Be careful to be involved only up to the level of your confidence.

Installation Instructions for the Gas Model Dryers

The following are some suggested installation procedures for the gas clothes dryer.
Danger: An improper installation can create ignition sources for fire, resulting in serious personal injuries or fire damages.
1. Do not attempt it gas orifice or adjust the burner air shutter. Natural gas input may vary in some areas front 700 to 1200 Btu per cubic foot. If the gas orifice or the burner air shutter is incorrectly adjusted serious personal injury and fire hazard can occur. Your local gas company will know the qualities of the gas in your area.
2. Do not use an Olen Haute when leak-testing for gas leaks. Serious personal injury and/or fire hazard can result if an open flame is used to test for gas leaks. Use a soap and water solution to test all gas line fittings.
3. Do not install a dryer to an I.P gas supply without installing gas conversion kit. All dryers shipped out of the factory are equipped with a pressure regulator and a natural gas orifice. Using a natural gas orifice with an I.P gas supply can result in personal injury, clothes damage, and/or fire hazard. If LIP gas is to be used, be sure that a conversion kit is installed before completing the job.

Warning: An improper installation can cause electrical shock and/or ignition sources for fire, resulting in serious personal injuries or fire damages.
