Below is information for you about how to lengthen the life of your air conditioning, as well as how you can use them more efficiently – and so save money on your utility bills. However, we do not post this information with the intent of saying that you should try the air conditioning repairs yourself. Air conditioning repairs require practice, particular tools, and specialized education. In addition, repairs on air conditioning require special knowledge of gas or electric systems. And it can be very dangerous if you don't have the information or skill needed. For knowledgeable, expert help with your air conditioning repairs call us any time of day or night at:

The outdoor air conditioning requirement may be reduced to 22 percent of the specified ventilation air quantity when adequate temperature control is provided in addition to filtering equipment so that contaminant levels given in are not exceeded. If odor and gas removal equipment is also provided, the outdoor air requirement may be reduced to 15 percent of the specified air conditioning ventilation air quantity. However, in no case can the outdoor air quantity be less than 5 cfm or 2.5 1/s per person. In some cases local codes and statutes may override the limits stated above. For energy conservation ASHRAE Standard 90-75, Energy Conservation in New Building Designs, states that the minimum column values shall be used, and the outdoor air portion of the ventilation air shall be reduced as discussed above. However, the standard air conditioning also specifies that allowance for 100 percent outside air shall be provided for air conditioning cooling purposes when conditions are right (usually early fall and late spring). This is called an economizer cycle since it saves energy at off-design conditions.
What is significant is that the desired ventilation discussed is obtainable, without modifying current ventilation practices, through the proper application of air recovery. Ventilation air, over and above the infiltration or oxygen demand, need not be new outdoor air. Since the function of air conditioning ventilation air is that of a dilution agent, it must only be fresh, that is, uncontaminated. When an air-conditioning system is used, this dilution agent may be obtained by air conditioning purifying and thus converting a portion of the recalculated air to fresh air. Because such air is already conditioned, its recovery and use of outdoor air minimizes the conditioning load of the air conditioning system.
Air Conditioning Functions
Air Conditioning Coils. These Air Conditioning systems are so arranged that the Air Conditioning cooling coils—which absorb heat—are located on the room side of , the window, and the condensing unit—which rejects heat—is on the outside of the window. It is important that no intermingling of the hot condenser air and cooled room air takes place. A partition (bulkhead) inside the air conditioner separates the room air from the condenser air. The rubber seals and panels at the window prevent exchange of inside and outside air. Good, tight insulation at the window is of the most importance.
Air Conditioning Air Flow. The air conditioner is equipped with two separate air systems.
Air Conditioning System One. The air system on the outside includes the air conditioning condenser fan and dissipates the heat taken from the cooled area to the outside atmosphere. The condenser fan also picks up and dissipates into the outside atmosphere the condensate (water), which has been removed from the air in the cooled area. The slinger ring on the outer periphery of the air conditioning fan performs this function.
Air Conditioning System Two. The ac system within the cooled area circulates room air over the cooling unit. In so doing, the air loses sensible heat to the ac unit. The air conditioning also condenses water vapor (latent heat) from the room air. A solid, insulated partition (bulkhead) inside the ac unit separates these two air conditioning systems.
